Privacy Policy as of June, 2004 -  At Balboa Ski & Sports Club (“BSSC”), we respect your right to privacy and understand that visitors to our web site (the “Site”) need to control the use of their personal information. BSSC allows members and potential members to register for membership and register for BSSC activities on line. The privacy policy below describes the measures taken by us to protect your privacy in connection with your use of our Site.

When you register for membership or an event, we ask for your name, mailing address, home and work phone numbers, e-mail address and other information. We also ask for certain necessary financial information (i.e., your credit card number). Contact information is used to complete your registration and to allow trip and event leaders, club officers and other club members to contact you.

From time to time BSSC may send you e-mail messages informing you of BSSC sponsored events and activities that we believe may be of interest to you.

BSSC prints a membership directory (generally annually) which is distributed to other BSSC members. The directory includes each member’s name, home address, home and work phone numbers, and e-mail address. The directory includes a prohibition against distributing the directory to any third party or using the directory for other than BSSC club business. BSSC provides the directory only to BSSC members.

BSSC may provide your name only but not other contact information to related ski organizations in order to determine the number of delegates BSSC is entitled to register. For example, BSSC will provide a list of member names to the Far West Ski Association.

BSSC will not share your personally identifiable information with third parties other than entities that perform services for BSSC such as processing credit card payments that either are bound to comply with our privacy policy or have privacy policies that protect your information. However, BSSC may disclose information you provide if required to do so by law or we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to (1) comply with the law or with legal process served on us; (2) protect and defend out rights or property; or (3) act in an emergency to protect someone’s safety.

The personally identifiable information we collect about you is saved in a profile that is kept on our server. The information is password protected and accessible only by a limited number of club officers and volunteers. You can review your profile by contacting the current Membership Director.

BSSC has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under its control. These security measures include a firewall to prevent unauthorized access to our systems and maintenance of registration information on a separate security database. Although we will exercise reasonable care in providing secure transmission of information between your computer and our servers, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to us by the Internet and we accept no liability for any unintentional disclosure. We will protect the transmission of credit card information through industry standard, SSL (secure socket layer) encryption.

Our Site contains hyperlinks and pointers to Internet sites maintained by third parties. These links are provided for your convenience because we believe they may contain information you would find useful. We do not control, operate or endorse in any respect information, products or services on such third party sites and are not responsible for their content. Many third-party sites have their own privacy policies that differ from BSSC’s.

We may make changes in our privacy policy from time to time. When we do so, we will post the revised policy on our Site with a link at the bottom of our home page. Our home page will also contain a statement notifying readers that the policy has changed.
